Kelleys Island’s First Annual Harvest Festival
A brand new annual event is coming to Kelleys Island this fall. On September 26, 2015 downtown Memorial Park will be filled with family fun activities, games, food and more. Kelleys Island Harvest Festival will host vendors including Nana and Papa’s Kettle Corn, Chef Q’s Barbecue, a Burma Farms Produce Stand, a Bake Sale table, Italian Ice Stand and more. The Harvest Festival will also include a Kelleys Island Fall Themed Photo area for a special photo of yourself, family and friends.
There will be plenty of games including Pumpkin Bowling, Pumpkin Ring Toss, a Treasure Sand Box, and more. The Harvest Festival will also include other fun activities like Pumpkin Decorating and a Scarecrow making contest. The hosts will supply the paint, markers, etc. for Pumpkin Decoration and pillow cases, straw, and the sticks for building the Scarecrows. All other supplies will be up to the contestants. Your Scarecrows can be scary, beautiful or silly!
Other activities will include a Tug-O-War competition, potato sack races, wheelbarrow races, bobbing for apples and more. There will also be a Pie Eating Contest in the afternoon. Evening hours will feature a Square Dance in the street.
The proceeds from the Kelleys Island Harvest Festival will be used toward a brand new playground for downtown Memorial Park. Contact is kiharvestfest@gmail.com.
Red Tail Squadron Returns To Liberty Aviation Museum
The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Red Tail Squadron and the RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit are returning to the Liberty Aviation Museum (LAM) at the Erie-Ottawa International Airport in Port Clinton, Ohio September 15-20, 2015. The RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit tells the story of the famed Tuskegee Airmen to young people all across American in an experiential way.
The RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit is a fully functional movie theatre featuring the original short film “RISE ABOVE.”
School children from Erie, Ottawa and Sandusky counties will
witness the inspirational documentary “Rise Above” and its story of
how the Tuskegee Airmen overcame obstacles to be allowed to train
and fight as U.S. Army Air Corps pilots. Joining the exhibit will be
local Tuskegee Pilot Lt. Col. (Ret.) Harold H. Brown and a fully restored flying P-51C Mustang “Red Tail”.
