A New Local Favorite - Brickyard Sloppy Joe Sauce
Score points with friends and family for a quick end-of-summer picnic or tailgate party. Pick up a jar of Brickyard Sloppy Joe Sauce, add it to ground meat and culinary magic happens. “Our sauce has a really rich palette with a hint of cracked ground pepper that compliments the sweet brown sugar flavor,” President Don Hill says.
While serving in combat in Afghanistan, Don ate his share of bland MRE’s (meals ready to eat), while longing for the taste of his grandmother’s homemade Sloppy Joe’s. Upon returning home to Maumee in 2012, the US Navy veteran and University of Toledo graduate along with his mom, Jackie, dished up the tasty recipe that he remembered. Using a family recipe from the 1960’s, the Hill family credits Grandma JoAnn with the deliciously blended ingredients.
Today, the family operated business, Traditions Sauces LLC is produced in the Northwest Ohio Cooperative Kitchen in Bowling Green. While the traditional sauce is the original, the newest is Sweet Heat, a spicier version, which will be available soon. Grandma JoAnn would be proud!
Brickyard Sloppy Joe Sauces are available at Walmart, Kroger and local Community Markets. Look them up at www.TraditionsSauces.com.
