It’s A Family Affair At Marblehead Galley

The lure of the lake and the charm of the islands drew the Zywiec family from their Parma, Ohio home in 1989. Today, it’s a family affair with Melissa (Missy) and Chris Skinner, their two daughters, Robin and Josie and Missy’s par- ents, Carol and Tom Zywiec all pitching in at The Marblehead Galley. Having worked at The Galley for different owners since ’89, Missy jumped at the chance to become an owner and restauran- teur in 2004. “I love the people. It’s such a unique community and I have developed a 20+ year relationship with the locals. It’s a great
family environment bringing visitors from Cleveland, Columbus and beyond,” Missy says. “We offer great, homemade food at fair prices, keeping people com- ing back.” While Tom and Chris step in to help with handyman tasks and Missy’s daughters are supportive in various roles, most of the daily tasks are shared with her mom. Missy, 45, prefers cooking rather than baking which uses precise
measurements. “I hate making cookies because I don’t like rolling out the dough,” Missy laughs. With cooking, ingredients can be added until the right taste is achieved.
Located in the heart of downtown Marblehead, the restaurant serves made-from-scratch meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner with daily spe- cials...think stuffed cabbage rolls, spaghet- ti and meatballs, meatloaf and more. Home- baked breads, soups and desserts change daily.
