After a successful summer, a major renovation to the outside and inside of the restaurant was scheduled for the fall and spring.
The summer season of 2016 opened with a fresh look to Rayz as well as a full-time General Manager - no other than Issac. “My dad and I had had many discussions about a place for me in the operation,” explains Issac. He emphasizes that the last thing either of them wanted was to lose the father-son relationship and have it turn into a boss-employee relationship. That concern was put to rest after Issac spent the previous summer helping out while on break from the University of Toledo. His presence within Rayz proved to be a good fit for both father and son and led to Issac taking on the General Manager position.
“Going into our first busy season, business was great and we knew that my dad had made a great decision in coming out here,” says Issac. “We went through growing pains, found talented people and managers, and we haven’t stopped making upgrades since then. When there are peo- ple sitting outside or in the restaurant, it’s the best compliment they can give us. We are going to do our best to make them enjoy their experience and want to come back.”
Some of the most popular menu items at Rayz include their famous Chicken Ballz (chick- en breast cut up, lightly breaded then deep fried and tossed in your favorite sauce), big, flavorful burgers, and of course fresh perch. Choose an ice-cold local brew and kick back on one of the outside decks while listening to live entertain-
ment, or watch football on the 70-inch flat screen in the open, shaded area underneath the deck.
“We have certainly grown and increased traf- fic to the beautiful village of Bay View,” Issac points out. “Today, our General Manager is Debbie White, who we inherited from Terry’s Tavern. Having her on the team is such an asset to the business. During the off-season we are lucky to have a solid core of staff. People enjoy working here as much as I do. My dad treats us all great. He won’t ever ask any of us to do some- thing that he wouldn’t do himself, which makes him an effective leader. With happy staff, good food, an amazing view and fair prices for the island region, people really seem to enjoy coming to Rayz on the Bay!”
Issac emphasizes that Rayz is a place for everyone - families, couples on date night, groups celebrating birthdays or retire- ments, boaters, motorcyclists, jet-skiers, locals, and everyone in between. “We are so fortu- nate to have the team we do, the leader we do and the cus- tomers we do. It’s a great place to be. I encourage everyone to come on in, enjoy the view of Sandusky Bay, try one of our popular menu items and enjoy
