washing up on local beaches that should inspire some pretty amazing creations.”
This year, a brand new category has been added. “AWU 3-D means that the words ‘All Washed Up’ is part of creation,” explains Cudney. “We hope to use these images as part of the event in the future.”
Hosted by the Vermilion Arts Guild (a Main Street Vermilion program), the event will also include a 50/50 raffle, chances to win artwork created by local artists, and shopping for driftwood sailboats, seashell totes and fun, temporary tattoos.
Judging will take place at 10AM and prizes for 1st place, runner up, and honorable mention in each category awarded at 11AM. Visitors will vote for the People’s Choice throughout the day with the winner announced at the end of the event.
This year, All Washed Up is made possible through the sponsorship of Lake Erie Foundation (LEF) whose mission is “to create and maintain a healthy Lake Erie now and forever.”
During All Washed Up, LEF will shine a spotlight on plastic contamination and its impact on the health of Lake Erie waters, life forms, industry, recreation, and more. Look for the LEF table at All Washed Up to learn how you can take steps to stop plastics from entering our lake and waterways in the first place. The valuable and actionable information provided by LEF will benefit all, especially our precious Lake Erie!
For more on plastic contaminations and LEF, visit their website at lakeeriefoundation.org.
Complete details for All Washed Up including registration, information on how to prepare and work with driftwood and photos from both the 2019 event and 2020 online version can be found at mainstreetvermilion.org/all- washed-up. Registration forms can also be sent via email or postal service by contacting Main Street Vermilion at 440.963.0772 or mainstreetvermilion@gmail.com
