Help For The Long Distance Caregiver
By Julie Yeager McCormick, President, Elder Family Services, LLC
If you are one of the millions of Americans trying to balance a career, marriage, children, and/or grandchildren, while at the same time trying to provide care for your elderly parents, welcome to the Sandwich Generation! In addi- tion, statistics affirm that many are attempting to provide or arrange elder care from long dis- tances.
My business, Elder Family Services, LLC, is geared toward helping those family members who have unexpectedly turned into the care- giver and are struggling in their new role and looking for assistance.
I know, personally and professionally, the struggle of being a family caregiver. My par- ents required care for a combined total of 10+ years. I am blessed to be part of a large family, in which we all shared the responsibility. How- ever, through my experience working in hos- pice for close to 6 years, I realized that many caregivers are alone when it comes to fulfilling the needs of elder family members. This com- bined experience gives me a unique perspective on how to help people dealing with a situation where having to take care of elderly parents and loved ones is a challenge.
If you are a long distance caregiver, we can help you. Some of the services offered by Elder Family Services, LLC are: 30 minute well check visits, well check calls, companionship, errands, attend Dr. Appointments, pet care, be present for medical supply deliveries and medical as- sessments by home health care agency or hos- pice, provide referrals, and so much more. We are on call 24/7 for emergencies. We also install medic alert buttons and a special fall sensor button for those with dementia who may not remember to push the button.
Peace of mind is just a phone call away. For more information please visit our website at www.elderfamilyservices.net, like us on face- book, email info@elderfamilyservices.net or call 419.366.5393.

May is the height of migration at the world-famous Point Pelee National Park. For many migratory birds, Point Pelee will be the first forested land they encounter as they make their long migratory flight across Lake Erie on route to their northern nesting destinations. It’s easy to observe as many as 100 species of birds a day and experienced birders may
see or hear in excess of 120. Up to 360 species have been recorded in Point Pelee and the surrounding area.
