Looking Forward!

Old man winter made a return to Northern Ohio and froze the lake up for you ice fishermen! You probably had to knock some rust off the skis of your ice shanties as well. It is nice to be writing again and looking beyond COVID.
We all are still taking in what the world went through at break-neck speed as the virus spread around the globe into every nook and cranny in society. Now, vaccines are plentiful, and the virus is being treated with new and existing medications to less- en its severity. Our sympathies go to those who have lost loved ones to the pandemic.
We are all looking forward to the return of travel.
Technology types of stocks were the big win- ners going through the pandemic. More people and companies have learned it is nice to avoid traffic, lower daycare costs and not dress up daily. So, it would be fair to say technology advances will continue to modernize how business gets done. Delivery services will also be a trend that should continue as we have found it is a time management tool. It gives us more personal time rather than running to the store, as does just going to pick up already selected groceries. Personally, we look for- ward to welcoming the cleaning service back into our home sometime during the summer of 2021.
Travel and Leisure is a sector of the economy that suffered significantly and could see recovery if vaccines and herd immunity give Americans con- fidence to eat out regularly, fly and take cruises, for example.
Not every person suffered financially through the crisis. Many have more savings due to the “lockdowns” and staying socially distant from crowds. Eventually, some of those savings dollars will work their way back into the economy as con- sumers spend more while getting out and about.
I can attest to being one of the people who has put off regular preventative medical appointments. Who does not love a good massage to keep the joints working and muscles stretched? I also think it’s fair to say that the medical service industry could benefit as Americans get back to their nor- mal patterns of necessary appointments. My elbow and knee are going to be happy to get some needed maintenance!
Governments around the globe are going to stimulate their economies to prevent a severe recession. This has typically been good for stocks. We can look at the United States for an example of how the stimulus has benefited the major stock market indices since March of 2020.
To be clear, stock prices can be affected by many unforeseen events and become volatile very quickly. Please consult a qualified professional before making any decisions to invest your money. We are hopeful for all of America that 2021 gets us back to hugging our parents and grandparents
sooner rather than later!
