Spring Is The Perfect Time For Makeovers
The Erie County Home Builders Associ- ation Home Design & Remodeling Expo is scheduled for March 27 through 29 at the new Cedar Point Sports Center, 3115 Cleve- land Road, Sandusky. Clare Opfer, marketing and sales manager for S and H Blinds and Floors, is a member of the association and one of the event exhibitors.
Visitors will find vendors for all areas of home improvement, both inside and outside the home. “The best part of the show is that most of the exhibitors are going to be local companies,” Opfer said. “Anything that has to do with the home, both indoors and out- doors. There’s going to be something for ev- eryone.”
For several years, the show was held at Sawmill Creek. Opfer said she and the other exhibitors are excited about the new venue. “It’s a fun show. It’s lively,” she said. “There’s going to be a concession stand. Some of the children’s areas are going to be open to the public. It’s just a light, bright fresh space. It’s going to be nice to see some friendly faces.”
Opfer said her business will be offering DIY workshops in their booth space.
Earth Day Observance
I’m quite excited for Earth Day this year. Many of our communities observe the day in different ways. In Port Clinton, I’ll be attend- ing a ribbon-cutting for a fish sculpture! The walleye sculpture has already been placed on North Madison Street. It has “ports” where people can deposit plastic bottles, which will be collected by volunteers.
It’s already made quite a splash on social media.
Full disclosure time: the project is spon- sored by the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council, and I’m a member of the board. I had nothing to do with this project, unless you count being very proud of my fellow board members. One of them, Josh Zetzer, designed the sculpture.
The ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 5 p.m. April 22 on North Madison Street in Port Clinton.
