Carol Morgan, Port Clinton

Carol Morgan’s affinity for art began early, during her years in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. “I grew up in an interesting community called ‘The Bottoms’,” Morgan explained. “Our neighbors were Polish, Ukranian, Italian – an exciting mix. There was a scrimshaw artist who had a shop, and I loved watching him do his beautiful work. I want to see more opportunities like that to support working artists in our community.”
The Port Clinton resident was one of the founders of the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council 11 years ago, and is still very much involved in promoting public art for all ages. GPCAAC’s programs and events, such as unique bus trips to regional art museums and “wine and paint” parties, are open to everyone. The group also holds a fun annual fundraiser called Appetite for the Arts, and hosts popular monthly Art Walks (May-October on the last Thursday of each month) in historic downtown Port Clinton. Around the same time Carol was establishing GPCAAC, she, her husband Jeff and daughter Alexandra Morgan Johnson opened Real Living Morgan Realty Group. “We are truly a family-centric company,” Carol noted. The Morgan Group serves buyers and sellers across Sandusky, Erie, and Ottawa Counties.”
Morgan appreciates Leisure Living Magazine’s coverage of regional art and community events. “Art makes communities vibrant,” she said. “You don’t have to be an artist to enjoy art!”

Winter 2017-2018 was memorable and remarkable. But now the ice piles on Lake Erie, that drew thousands of visitors, are gone. The snowmobiles, ice shanties and airboats have been put away for another season. We have burned the snowman with much celebration and ceremony.......It is time to bring on Spring! After the winter that we have had, we deserve an early spring.
