Ottawa County Museum Opens May 5
The Ottawa County Museum, 126 W. Third St., Port Clinton, OH 43452, will resume normal open hours on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. The museum will be open until Memorial Day on Wednesdays from noon to 3 pm and from Memorial Day to Labor
Day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from noon to 3 p.m. Appointments may be made for visiting at other times by calling the curator, Peggy Debien, at 419.732.1039.
The museum is handicapped accessible, and admission is free of charge. State and local pandemic health orders will be followed.
Firelands Symphony Announces Outdoor Concerts
The Firelands Symphony Orchestra (FSO) is excited to announce its Summer Flip Season of free outdoor concerts which will begin June 5 and continue through Sept. 18 at venues in Norwalk, Sandusky and Vermilion. Under the direction of Maestro Carl Topilow, the “Flip Season” replaces the FSO’s regular season schedule normally held in the Fall and Spring months. Due to Covid restrictions for indoor gatherings, the Symphony elected to flip
to a Summer schedule to allow for outdoor performances.
In partnership with Norwalk Parks and Recreation and sponsorship from the Albert G. and Olive H. Schlink Foundation, the Flip Season will begin on Saturday, June 5 with a 7 p.m. concert at Norwalk’s Veterans Memorial Lake Park with a pops concert of classic rock, Broadway and big screen selections.
The FSO then travels north to partner with the City of Sandusky’s Recreation Department to present two concerts at the new Jackson Street Pier. An Independence Day Patriotic Pops concert will be held on Sunday, July 4 at 7 p.m. On Sunday, July 25 at 7 p.m., the Christmas

On Saturday, Aug. 7 at 7 p.m., the season returns to Norwalk’s Veterans Memorial Lake Park for a special stage show of Superstar: The Songs. The Stories. The Carpenters. starring international vocalist Helen Welch. The “Flip Season” concludes on Saturday, Sept. 18 with a 6:30 p.m. concert at Paper Moon Vineyards
in Vermilion featuring a program of Americana music performed by the FSO and guest artist Hey Mavis on banjo, fiddle, bass, drums and heartfelt vocals.
