Have A Hooley Good Time -
It’s Hooligans 10th Anniversary Season
By JD Noll, Feature Writer
It’s a 10th ANNIVERSARY Celebration at Hooligans, Put-in-Bay’s favorite Irish Pub. Enjoy a HOOLEY good time all season long with week- ly food and drink specials to commemorate this special milestone.
Hooligans was created as an Irish Pub and is part of the Boardwalk Family of Restaurants. The idea emerged after a Booker Family trip to Ireland where the concept filled a void in the Put-in-
Bay landscape of restaurants and bars! Ac- cording to Sara Booker Sheehan, Creative Chief of the Boardwalk Family, as remodel-
ing was underway in the historic building,
the entire Booker Clan (Marv & Pat, Eric &
Jen, Sara & Trey, Laura & Jim) all participated
in a competition to arrive at a fitting name for
the Irish Pub. With creative energy running high, names were called out and then written down and posted on the back bar. In the end “Hooligans” was the winner!
Located in the former Odd Fellows building on Catawba Avenue, “Hooligans has been part of the rebirth of Catawba Avenue’s shops, bars and eateries near the downtown De Rivera Park,” Sara says.
Now, ten years later, the Booker Family and their staff of 20+ employees are enjoying the success of this venture. Hooligans’ Vision Statement says it all... “Hooligans is commit- ted to providing consistent high-quality food and services by offering recipes prepared by our local chef and served by a friendly, wel- coming staff in a family pub atmosphere.”
Ten original menu items have been dubbed “Taste of Time” and are offered as menu regulars: Fish ‘n Chips, Shepherd’s Pie, Hooley Cheese Dip, Traditional Reuben, Hooligans Pub Burger, Emerald Isle Chicken, Guinness Burger, Irish Coffee, and Chef Ma-

rie Schroeder’s Apple Crisp. A popular “Special” to request is The Sheehan Ruck, a slow-roast- ed brisket sandwich topped with tangy cheddar cheese sauce, sautéed onions and Guinness BBQ Sauce. Sara says, “The Irish word ‘ruck’ means ‘in the mix’.” Executive Chef Marie features daily lunch and dinner specials posted on their Insta- Continued on page 28
