Milan Chautauqua
Continued from page 31
With activities throughout the community for all ages, each organization is responsible for tasks to make the event run smoothly. Township Trust- ees, Dan Frederick and Sparky Weilnau view this program as a boost “to support tourism and en- courage economic development for the area.” Tak- ing advantage of summer visitors to the Lake Erie region, the free events should be a tremendous attraction. Shops, restaurants and museums will offer specials, extended hours and open houses.
According to the Ohio Humanities Council, “Each evening family and friends will gather as live music fills the air. Afterwards a talented figure appears on stage, bringing to life personal stories and historical detail. This year’s list of Chautauqua historians include novelist, Mary Shelley; prima- tologist, Dian Fossey; President Theodore Roos- evelt; physicist Marie Currie; and Shawnee leader, Chief Cornstalk. With a warm, nostalgic vibe, it’s a unique experience sure to open minds and start conversations.”
