Remember when we had trouble finding fun things to do? That’s SO in the past! I love researching events for this column, because it reminds me that our little corner of the world is so special. What a wonderful prob- lem – to have too many great events and not enough time.
What’s Up At The MOM?
The Meals on Madison area has totally transformed the downtown area of Port Clin- ton. Last year it was fun. This year it’s fantas- tic! Local attorney/singer/songwriter/enter- tainment guru Ron Nisch is organizing the acts. The stage was donated by Live Nation. The lights and sound system are amazing.
When you go, you’ll see people sitting at picnic tables and in Adirondack chairs, or dancing, or playing cornhole. The near- by restaurants offer takeout food, beverages and outdoor bars. Purchase your adult bev- erages in a MORA cup and roam the down- town district while you window shop and visit with friends.
You’ll hear live music on Tuesday, Thurs- day, Friday, and Saturday nights, plus Sunday afternoons. For a list of the performers, go to portclintonchamber.com/meals-on-madi- son.html.
It’s County Fair Season
Fair season is starting again. The Ottawa County Fair is July 19 through 24. Nighttime events include harness racing, a rodeo, a demolition derby, and tractor pulls.
The Erie County Fair is Aug. 10 through 15, followed by the Huron County fair from Aug. 16 through 21. The Sandusky County Fair is the latest local one, running from Aug. 24 through 29.

The Lakeside Symphony Orchestra is back! This year, the performances will be at the Steele Memorial Bandstand. Some seat- ing is provided, but it might be a good idea to bring your own chairs. Concerts are July 28 and 31 and August 3 (a children’s con- cert) and 6.

I’ve been busy planning the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council’s “Toasting Trans- formation” event, with the help of a group of smart, talented, hardworking, and generous volunteers. The online auction of pieces do- nated by local artists will start on Aug 16, and it will run through the live event. That will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at The Arts Garage (TAG). People who go to the live event will have the chance to bid on donated items (like gift baskets), that will not be available for the online auction. Tickets are available at http://TRANSFORMATION. givesmart.com. That’s also the website for the online art auction. Tickets will also be available at Lilly & Gert’s in Port Clinton.
Join us for art, music, dance, food, drink, and ... did I mention art?
