Soda Pops In Sandusky Is An Adventure for Kids Of All Ages
By Maggie Kelch, Feature Writer
A visit to Soda Pops on Water Street in down- town Sandusky is a fun-filled adventure for kids of all ages. “Big” kids will feel like they’ve travelled back in time to revisit their favorite soda fountain or candy shop from their childhood. “Little” kids will be in awe of the rows and rows of retro candies and vintage bottled sodas.
Chad and Amy Kresser founded Soda Pops in 2015 because they wanted to create a place for kids to enjoy in the downtown area. “We travelled around with our kids and when we saw a shop like this, we would stop. They enjoyed it so much. We saw that there was nothing in downtown Sandusky for kids. There were plenty of bars and restaurants. We thought it would be a good thing for downtown to have a place for kids to enjoy,” Chad Kresser said.
Soda Pops features retro candy, vintage glass bottle sodas and lots of other cool stuff. The candies include 30 different varieties of saltwater taffy, and 20 to 30 different varieties of nickel, dime and 15 cent treats. Some of the most popular vintage can- dies that they sell are Pop Rocks, Astro Pops, Bos- ton baked beans, Whistle Pops, and both bubble gum and candy cigarettes.
Visitors can pick out baskets or boxes to make a special candy gift pack for a birthday or the holi- days. They can also make their own four pack or six pack of sodas.
