In 2014, while filling out a Staples rebate form, Lisa stumbled upon a “Make Your Ideas Happen” contest and decided to enter. Out of 16,000 entries and thousands of votes, Staples judges awarded business mentoring from leading entrepreneurs and the $25,000 grand prize to When Pigs Fly.
Although there are a couple salaried staff, over 50 volunteers and groups provide continuing support for the shop and foundation.
In 2015, over 90 families received over $130,000, adding to the total of more than $500,000 distributed since 2007 simply proving that pigs really can fly.
