The Que Barbecue & Brew Is Open In Ottawa County
Owners Mel and Barb Ayers are at it again. This time, they’ve brought a delicious, north coast barbeque spot to the shores of Lake Erie. The Que Barbecue & Brew (formally Nagoya Japa- nese Steakhouse) underwent an extensive renovation and is now open.
After nearly 15 years of Nagoya Japanese Steakhouse, Mel and Barb are reinventing. Their inspiration is derived from the distinctly ‘Americana’ nature of barbecue, and the authenticity of the craft that has been growing across the country.
“We’re very excited to get the restaurant opened up. I think people are going to walk in and be amazed at the changes. From the rustic décor with garage doors open to the water front views, to the new patio complete with a bandstand for our frequent evening entertainment, an expansive new bar serving up a long list of IPAs,
local brews on tap as well as great craft cocktails,” commented Mel Ayers, owner of The Que. The menu features delicious food items such as Baby Back Ribs, Texas Style Beef Ribs, Pulled Pork, Smoked Prime Rib, North Coast Chili and Jalapeño Corn Bread. Sandwiches, salads, and other smokehouse meats are available as well.
Supporting the project is a $150,000 awarded through the Ottawa County Improvement Corporation’s (OCIC) Revolving Loan Fund (RLF).
The Que offers carryout and curbside service. Please visit www.thequeohio.com.

FSO Names Applegate Executive Director
Firelands Symphony Orchestra has named Tricia Applegate as its new executive director. Applegate has over 30 years of arts management experience.
With an undergraduate degree in music and business from Heidelberg University and masters degree in arts administration from the University of Akron, the variety of Applegate’s professional experience offers a collection of resources to advance the FSO into its future.
In addition to diversifying resources through earned income, private and public giving, audiences and staffing, Applegate is a strong advocate of arts education. “I’m ecstatic to see a symphony dedicated to a school of music program to build young audiences through experiential education programs and outreach. This is a factor that drew me to this position.”
Applegate also believes for the arts to survive in today’s world, it is vital to build partnerships especially with higher education institutions and fellow arts organizations. “By combining our resources and building synergy, we can strengthen the support for the arts and build community through the arts.”
