Otterbein North Shore Rates High With ODH
The Ohio Department of Aging (ODA) has released the results of their most recent satisfaction survey of nursing home residents. Of the 959 homes in the study, the Otterbein North Shore Skilled Nursing & Rehab Small House of Lakeside- Marblehead ranked in the top 50 nursing facilities (top 5%) in the state of Ohio.
The Ohio Department of Aging and the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman conducts a biennial satisfaction survey of residents in long-term care facilities. The survey is designed to measure their satisfaction with their quality of care and quality of life. The survey was developed by the Scripps Gerontology Center at Miami University of Ohio and the Margaret Blenkner Research Institute of Benjamin Rose in Cleveland, Ohio. The results are based on structured, face-to-face interviews with residents in the facility between August and December 2015.
In the survey, across all questions, Otterbein North Shore registered a score of 93.77, an extraordinary score and the highest resident satisfaction score among nursing facilities in Ottawa, Erie and Sandusky Counties. The statewide average score for nursing facility resident satisfaction was 87 (out of 100).
Otterbein “small houses” are unlike other skilled nursing and rehabilitation environments in Ohio. They are houses designed to be homes for people to live and recover. The focus is on enjoying life in a welcoming home with private suites and home-cooked meals, where residents make their own decisions about personal care and daily schedules. The small house on the North Shore campus in contains 10 private suites, and each resident enjoys access to the rest of the 10,000 square foot home - an oversized kitchen and dining area, great room, den, and open patio.
