Summer’s Swan Song
It’s time to make the most of the rest of the summer!
The Port Clinton Lighthouse & Maritime Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 17, and is part of the International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend. This year, the con- servancy is planning to have more vendors and activities – and the replica of the Keep- er’s Boathouse will be on display.
On Aug. 23 the Friends of Ottawa Na- tional Wildlife Refuge will hold a West Sister Island Rookery Cruise. I went on a similar fundraiser cruise last year (the route was dif- ferent) and thoroughly enjoyed it. We trav- eled on one of the Jet Express ferries along the shoreline, and it was truly interesting to
see the landscape from a different vantage point – especially at sunset!
In the past, I’ve enjoyed attending and photographing the annual fashion show fundraiser for the Foundation for Firelands. This year, the fundraiser will be different – and it’s likely to be successful, given the name. The Best Party Ever sponsored by the Foundation for Firelands is scheduled for Sept. 19 at Plum Brook Country Club.
