Eye Centers Welcome Dr. Alexzandra Rudinoff, O. D.
The Third Annual Port Clinton Lighthouse & Maritime Festival
The Third Annual Port Clinton Lighthouse & Maritime Festival, presented by the Port Clinton Lighthouse Conservancy, is set to take place Saturday, August 17, 2019, from 10:30am to 5pm. This waterfront event, celebrating Port Clinton’s maritime heritage, will be located at Waterworks Park and is free to the public.
The opening ceremony at 10:30am will begin with the U.S. Coast Guard’s presentation of colors. Port Clinton High School’s a cappella choir will perform, and Mayor Mike Snyder and the office of Marcy Kaptur will be represented, as well.
More than twenty-five vendors will feature nautical, maritime, lighthouse and local themes, and food vendors will offer a variety of festival-food menus from which to choose. Unique and upbeat musical groups will play throughout the day. Local groups include the Ottawa County Bluegrass Band and the Grande Royale Ukulelists of the Black Swamp.
Of great interest to all ages will be the educational offerings, such as lighthouse tours, demonstrations of seaman slip-knot-tying, ham radio hook-ups, and nonprofit exhibits. Again this year, historical lectures will be presented at scheduled times: Terry Breymaier, a direct descendant of Peter Navarre, will share his insights into his ancestor’s life, and Rich Norgard will present the history of the Port Clinton lighthouse.
Children’s activities will include their own scavenger hunt, face-painting, lighthouse tours, and making musical instruments and flags for their parade, among others. The lake view, as always, will be a wonderful backdrop for the event.
