Ellis’ talk also will serve as the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums’ Lecture on the Presidency this year. Lecture on the Presidency is sponsored by National Ma- chinery Foundation and ProMedica Memorial Hospital.
On the literary side, children’s book author Connie Remlinger Trounstine, of Cincinnati, will speak to student groups at Fremont City Schools and have a public event during the festival.
Trounstine wrote “Fingerprints on the Table: The Sto- ry of the White House Treaty Table.” Her book focuses on the White House Treaty Table and the people who have used it, from politicians and foreign dignitaries to kids who lived in the White House.
Rock the Light is a 2 day music festival on September 7th and 8th of 2018. It will featuring national headliners Here Come the Mummies, Crystal Bowersox, and Aaron Carter, as well as incredible regional arts and local favor- ites. The festival will take place in Water Works Park on the shores of Lake Erie with Port Clinton’s newly restored Lighthouse as a backdrop. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased at historicportclinton.com.
Here Come the Mummies are the Friday night head- liner, with tickets $25. Crystal Bowersox and Aaron Car- ter will make a major splash on Saturday, with tickets $35. A special all weekend pass is $50. VIP tickets for exclusive access to a gated area on the lawn near the stage will also be available.
Ottawa County residents will get a home town break. They are eligible for discounted tickets, which cost $20 for Friday night, $30 for Saturday night or $40 for the all-weekend pass. Proof of Ottawa County residency is required at time of purchase, which must be done in per- son at the Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce, 110 Madison St. and Great Lakes Popcorn Company, 60 N. Madison St.

The first film and literary festival to focus on the American Presidency will take place Oct. 4-7 in Fremont, home of America’s first presidential library.
The American Presidents Film & Literary Festival will focus on issues related to the American Presidency. The literary component will include talks by featured au- thors and essay and poetry contests.
Several community partners, including the Liberty and Learning Foundation, Birchard Public Library, Fre- mont City Schools and the Rutherford B. Hayes Presiden- tial Library & Museums, are organizing the festival.
It will take place at various locations around Fre- mont, including The Strand Concert Theater, Fremont City Schools, the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums and Birchard Public Library.
Kirk Ellis, screenwriter for the 2008 HBO miniseries “John Adams,” will be the keynote speaker. He will talk on Oct. 6 at The Strand Concert Theater.
