It’s Classic Car Show Time
The Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce will host its 25th Annual Classic Car Show on Saturday, August 4 from 10:00am to 3:00pm on Madison Street in downtown Port Clinton.
Cars, trucks and bikes from virtually every era and every make will be on display. Proud owners will be polishing their favorites as they talk about the histo- ry and renovations of their unique vehicles. The DJ will be playing your favorites from 10:00am to 3:00pm. There will be 50/50 drawings and door prizes all after- noon.
In recent years, the shows have hosted an average of over 150 cars and trucks. Vehicle registration is $10 with a portion of the registration fees being donated to the Port Clinton 4th of July Fireworks and Main Street Port Clinton in honor of Jerry Lippus. Dash plaques will be given to the first 100 cars at check-in. For more information, please contact the Chamber at 419-734- 5503 or go to www.portclintonchamber.com to down- load a vehicle registration form.
Other activities around Port Clinton this weekend include the Port Clinton Lighthouse Festival on Satur- day and Arts in the Park on both Saturday and Sun- day. Come join the fun!
Union Chapel Museum Is
Now Open On Catawba
The Catawba Museum at Union Chapel is now open. The Chapel, a former non-denominational church estab- lished in 1888, has been an idle Catawba Island Township building since the early 1980’s. The township spent the last 18 months renovating the structure so that it could be leased and operated by the Catawba Island Historical So- ciety (CIHS) as a museum to preserve, protect and share the area’s heritage.
It is operated Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month until October 27, the last day of its 2018 season. Hours are 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The Museum’s opening exhibit has been dubbed, “A Cool Way to spend a Hot Day”. It is dedicated to the ice harvesting industry that thrived on the Lake Erie shore- line and along Sandusky Bay at the turn of the 19th cen- tury. Before there were electric refrigerators, people re- lied on winter ice cut from the lake to help keep food fresh.
