Bill And Mame Drackett -
Lakeside And Cincinnati By Sharon Sweda, Feature Writer
Lakeside is an area where families gather to vacation year after year; generation to generation. Such is the case with Bill Drackett, whose grandchildren are sixth generational vacationers. The family cottage serves as the place where multi-generations play board games on the front porch in the evenings after enjoying everything a vacation has to offer.
“Where else can you find the laid back, friendly environ- ment that exists in Lakeside?” questions Bill. “I have fond
memories of my youth when we played hearts, ca- nasta or monopoly well into the night with parents and grandparents.”
Bill and wife
Mame’s prima-
ry residence is in
Cincinnati where
they raised their
two sons. Bill’s
real estate man-
agement career has afforded him the privilege to spend part of the year in Naples, Florida where he manages
properties for seasonal residents.
“We manage seasonal properties and have them ready
for arrival when owners return each year,” he explained. “Homeowners do not want to encounter the added work and maintenance required to prepare a home that has been closed for several months. It is turnkey ready when they arrive.”
In addition to real estate development and manage- ment, Bill and Mame are well known as philanthropists and hard working volunteers. Bill chaired the Lakeside Pool and Wellness project where volunteers completed the heralded feat in a record-setting, sixteen months. In spite of naysayers, the group successfully researched, de- signed, acquired firm bids and raised the 3.5 million dol- lars to complete the facility. The project even included fund raising by local youth who sold lemonade on wheels in order to contribute.
Not to be idle, Mame is also engaged within the Lakeside community. She has previously chaired the Wooden Boat Show at Lakeside for 15 years. That show will feature 80- 90 boats in this year’s event on July 22.
“I love Lakeside because the people are friendly, every- one has a smile and it is a great place to be.”
It is apparent that Lakeside loves the Dracketts, as well.
