Novena for the Assumption of Mary
This year’s Novena preacher will be Fr. Ste- ven J. McMichael. Ste- ven J. McMichael, OFM Conv., is a member of the Province of Our Lady of Consolation and an Associate Professor in the Theology Depart- ment at the University of Saint Thomas (Saint Paul, Minnesota).
Novena services will take place nightly at 8:00 pm except on Sundays when the service is at 1:30 pm. Tuesday through Fri- day masses are at 7:00 am in the Original Shrine Church and Monday through Saturday 11:00 am in the Basilica. Con- fessions are weeknights of the novena at 7:00 pm;
on Saturdays from 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm and on Sunday from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm. Confessions will be avail- able all day on August 14 and on August 15.
On August 14 at 9:00 pm, (Vigil of the Assump- tion) the statue of Our Lady of Consolation will be brought out to the front steps of the Basilica where
the final prayers of the no- vena will be prayed. The candlelight procession to the Shrine Park follows immediately where Bishop Daniel Thomas, of the Dio- cese of Toledo will celebrate the Mass.
