the Galpin Galleries. So, they asked the community and museum visitors to tell them which artist’s work they should add next. The community members and visitors voted for Dale Chi- huly.
In May, they installed the Chihuly art glass which is titled, “Capucine Orange
Persian Set With Royal Blue Lip Wraps.” The work consists of five vibrant or- ange and royal blue piec- es and is part of Chihuly’s famous Persian Series in which he plays with shape, form and color, especially in swirling patterns.
“Dale Chihuly is widely recognized as the world’s
premier and best known glass artist. His glass art joins more than 1,300 oth- er pieces in our glass col- lection,” Basilone-Jones said. The scope and size of the collection is on a par with collections in many major city galleries, she added.
The second addition to the Galpin Glass Gal- leries is an interactive Ev- erbright light wall. The Everbright, which looks like a giant Lite-Brite, was installed in June. Unlike a Lite-Brite, which uses pegs, the Everbright has hundreds of adjustable di- als which change color and hue as they are twisted,
offering hundreds of color possibilities.
Basilone-Jones said this is the first installation of an Everbright in the state of Ohio.
“The Everbright is an interactive element and works with color perception. It enables visitors to create artwork with color simply by turning the dials,” she said.
Both the Chihuly art glass and the Everbright play with color, form and light. “They work togeth- er to make what is an out- standing existing glass collection even stronger,” Basilone-Jones added.

Executive Director of the museum, the community assisted with the selection of the Chihuly art glass. The museum has been in the process of acquiring
new pieces for its collection for several years, as part of its strategic plan for the future. They wanted to add both ancient and con- temporary glass artwork to
