Summer’s Swan Song
It’s time to make the most of the rest of the summer! The Port Clinton Lighthouse & Maritime Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 17, and is part of the Inter- national Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend. This year, the conservancy is planning to have more vendors and ac- tivities – and the replica of the Keeper’s Boathouse will be
on display.
On Aug. 23 the Friends of Ottawa National Wildlife
Refuge will hold a West Sister Island Rookery Cruise. I went on a similar fundraiser cruise last year (the route was different) and thoroughly enjoyed it. We traveled on one of the Jet Express ferries along the shoreline, and it was truly interesting to see the landscape from a different vantage point – especially at sunset!
In the past, I’ve enjoyed attending and photographing the annual fashion show fundraiser for the Foundation for Firelands. This year, the fundraiser will be different –
It’s harvest season
and it’s likely to be successful, given the name. The Best Party Ever sponsored by the Foundation for Firelands is scheduled for Sept. 19 at Plum Brook Country Club.
