US Brig Niagara To Visit Put-in-Bay
For Maritime Celebration

On August 17, 1812, Commodore Oliver Haz- ard Perry docked at the city of Sandusky, Ohio and sent word to General William Henry Harri- son that he had arrived in the area. General Harri- son (yes, the future President of the United States) met with the Commodore aboard the flagships of Perry’s fleet, one of which was the US Brig Niag- ara. The General and the Commodore agreed to rendezvous on Put-in-Bay.
On June 18, 2015, the US Brig Niagara will once again rendezvous on Put-in-Bay thanks to sponsorship by The Jet Express and The Put-in- Bay Winery. Niagara’s arrival and stay is part of the Put-in-Bay Maritime Celebration which is being supported by The Perry Group in partner- ship with the Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce.

The Maritime Celebration, June 18-22, is a new event for the island created around the coming of this famous ship.
