July 2015
“Home grown tomatoes, home grown tomatoes, would life be like without home grown tomatoes? Only two things that money can’t buy, That’s true love and home grown tomatoes in July.”
- John Denver, “Home Grown Tomatoes”.
We are deep into summer along the lakeshore, and there seems to be no end to our options for “fun in the sun”. There are a myriad of outdoor and indoor events to enjoy, and a highlight is the opening of the fabulous local farmers’ markets. Full of fresh, colorful produce, baked goods and homemade crafts, the farmers’ market is a north coast cultural tradition. Locate one in your area at www. sanduskymainstreet.org ; www.ohioproud. org or www.farmersmarketonline.com .
Savor the sights and smells of a shopping experience like no other...and be reminded of what life is like “with home grown tomatoes”!

The Charlotte Dinger Collection At The Merry-Go-Round Museum
The Charlotte Dinger collection of carousel art is one of the finest and most comprehensive in the world. Charlotte’s family has recently selected Sandusky’s Merry-Go-Round Museum as the new home of the Dinger collection. Ninety animals, along with decorative elements from various carousels, will be on extended loan, providing a substantial range of eras, carvers and factories.
This stunning collection draws attention to the unmatched beauty and quality of the American carousel, while promoting the carousel’s rich history. Plan a day to visit the Merry-go-Round Museum and be awed by “the art of the carousel”. Visit www.merrygoroundmuseum.org for more information.
