“Dr. Cris,” Guillermo V. Crisologo, M.D., Catawba

Television viewers have recently been introduced to a
heartwarming infomercial aimed at developing support for and
awareness of Shriners’ Hospitals. The segment introduces
toddlers and children who, thanks to the Shriners’ Hospitals
and work of the volunteers throughout the United States, are
overcoming seemingly immeasurable physical disabilities. Their
courage and success is made possible through the work of Shriner Volunteer efforts.
A local resident, “Dr. Cris”, Guillermo V. Crisologo, M.D., is the local president of the Ottawa County Shrine Club where he has been a member for 40 years. Brotherhood and philanthropy are the organization’s two goals with an emphasis on helping disabled children.
Dr. Cris spent 35 years as a solo practice general surgeon and, though he was based at Magruder Hospital, he had privileges in most surrounding hospitals, as well. During Dr. Cris’ early retirement years in 2007-2013 he continued to work as a part-time surgeon
