Don’t Miss Island Fest!
Celebrate the dog days of summer at the Kelleys Island Fest July 13 through 15. Everyone in the family will find something to enjoy, from crafters and artisans to food vendors and a beer tent. Saturday’s events include a parade, live entertainment, and fireworks at dusk.
While you’re on the island, take the time to see the other attractions. My favorite is the site of the glacial grooves, on the north side of the island.
More information about the Island Fest is available at the Kelleys Island Chamber of Commerce website. You’ll also find tips on how to get there and how to get around. While most of the businesses are downtown, it’s worth your time to see the landscape and shoreline.
Vintage Ohio Festival
If you love wine, you won’t mind taking a trip to Kirtland for the Vintage Ohio Wine Festival and a Little Brew, Too event.
The festival, which is scheduled for Aug. 3 and 4, has been called the premier food and wine event of the year for northern Ohio. Several Ohio wineries will offer Pinot
Gris, Chardonnay, and other varieties, plus wines made from summer fruits. Wouldn’t you like to try a wine made from strawber- ries, peaches, raspberries, or blackberries?
Beer lovers won’t feel left out – there will be a beer tent. Bring your appetite for the food vendors, and prepare to enjoy the live music and fireworks on Friday evening.
Village Arts & Wine Fest
If you love wine and entertainment but would like to stay closer to home, go to the Sculpture in the Village Arts and Wine Festi- val on Aug. 11 at Williams Park in Gibson- burg.
Sample wines from Gillig Winery, DD Smith Winery, Chateau Tebeau Winery and Ski Lodge Winery. Spend the afternoon and evening enjoying food, art vendors, and live entertainment including Jordan Wi- ewandt.
This event benefits the North Coast Vet- erans Museum in Gibsonburg.
