Shop Locally
Every year when I write the holiday edi- tion column, I start with the same message: shop locally. It makes a difference! The very beginning of the calendar that follows is packed with community events, so you have plenty of opportunities to mix shopping, so- cializing, and enjoying the festivities.
You also have plenty of opportunities to celebrate New Year’s Eve. A special one is the observance of the bicentennial of the founding of Sandusky County, which begins with the NYE Bicentennial Kick-Off Party in downtown Fremont. The group organizing the event – and others throughout 2020 – has a website and Facebook page that you can check for details.
I admit that the
beginning part of the

favorite, I have some
challenge getting ex-
cited about things to
do. I might not have
that problem in early
2020, thanks to all
the local events. The
community theaters
in Port Clinton, Bellevue, and Fremont are presenting plays after the first of the year, and the Fire- lands Symphony Orchestra will perform operatic music – in- cluding “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen! The website shows that they will, they will, rock us.
