“Homes For The Holidays” Tour Of Homes In Milan
The Milan-Berlin Friends of the Library invite you to “Homes for the Holidays,” a tour of several historic and beautiful homes in Milan. The event will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. and it is for the benefit of the Milan- Berlin Libraries. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 on the day of the tour. Other Milan ticket locations are D’Vine Design, The Salvage Divas, Village Drive-thru, the Wine Post and Crosstown Goods. You may also purchase tickets at Naturally Country and Schilds IGA in Norwalk and Corso’s Flower and Garden Center in Sandusky. Tickets are available on the day of the tour only at the Milan Library.
You may wish to begin your tour at the Milan Library with a concert by The Moor Hens, a Celtic music group. They will perform in the Library Lobby at noon on the day of the tour. Also in the lobby, you can view raffle items which include gift baskets and
tour and park on the streets.
While in Milan, take time to explore the
unique gift shops for your holiday shopping. Enjoy lunch before you begin your tour or stay after for dinner at one of several restaurants. Take a break during the tour for a coffee, glass of wine or other refreshments offered by establishments on the square. View the recently installed Blue Star Memorial Marker on the square, the 72nd such marker placed in Ohio, to honor all who have served and are serving in the U.S. Military.

Parking is available in the Library parking lot or on the Milan Town Square and you can walk the entire tour if you wish. Six of the eight tour stops are within a few blocks of the library and the furthest distance from the first to the last stop on the tour is just over a mile. You can also drive the
White Dog B&B, Rob and Patty DeLand, 128 S. Center St. - This home is known as the Mitchell Turner House and is a Greek Revival house built in 1847 by Zenas King. King was a bridge engineer/builder, and patented the invention of the iron suspension bridge. In the 1840s and 50s, the Greek Revival style predominated in Milan. Extensive renovations are in progress to restore the historic structure, as well as add living space for a Bed & Breakfast on the premises. The home is listed on the National Historic Registry. Previous owners include Layard Miller, Jay L. Fenn and Joe & Jeanette Henry. Robert & Patty DeLand purchased the home in 2016.
