Volunteers Who Give Back To Our Community
Bill and Alice Springer - Unselfish Volunteers

Bill and Alice Springer’s family tree has been fruitful, and many have benefited from those fruits. Before marrying in 1992, Bill and Alice grew up in families which were mindful of others’ needs, and both gave of their time and talents early in life.
As a teen, Alice volunteered helping elementary children with reading. In college, she and her sorority were fund- raising for Sunshine Children’s Home and the Wood County Committee on Aging. Today, Alice is the Director
of The Foundation for Firelands, which she developed from its incep- tion. The Foundation supports the patients of Firelands Regional Medical Center. Alice serves on the board of the Firelands Symphony Orchestra and Cancer Services of Erie County;
and previously sat on State Theater board.
Bill quickly became civ- ically involved after return- ing to Erie County, follow- ing college, and his first job out of state. At age 30, he joined the YMCA Operating Board and the Board of Directors of Good Samaritan Hospital. Incredibly, Bill con- tinues to serve on the board of Good Samaritan’s successor hospital, Firelands Regional Medical Center. Bill jokes, “I sort of inherited this involve- ment.” His grandmother and father both served on the board of Good Samaritan. Nevertheless, Bill’s passion
to contribute to the bet- terment of the community
