Grapes and Grains
Enjoy fine food and drink, along with fine music at the “Grapes and Grains – A Celebration of Food and Spirits” event Sep- tember 27 at the Catawba Island Club.
One of my favorite local bands, Miss Kitty and the Litter, will provide the music (it’s possible that one of the reasons I like the band so much is that I can sing along to most of their songs and tell myself that I sound almost as good as Jaclyn, the lead singer. I don’t).
Chef Susan of the Catawba Island Club will offer several food selections, which are carefully paired with drinks from the Bail House Brewery, Catawba Island Brewing, Firelands Winery, Twin Oast Brewery, and WineFlight.
The event is sponsored by the Magruder Hospital Foundation. Proceeds will go to the Employee Giving Campaign Paved Walking Trail Project.
Autumn Is Time For Wine Festivals!
Take a trip to the Put-in-Bay Win- ery at the Doller Estate on Oct. 6 to en- joy not only foreign and domestic
wines, but also the local island wines. Enjoy good food, tours, and a silent auction that benefits the Lake Erie
Islands Historical Soci-
ety. Admission is $10, and includes a souve- nir wine glass. Sample tickets are $1, and most samples are in the $2 to $5 range.
The Ohio Wine
Producers Associ-
ation will bring a
one-day wine-tasting
event to the Liberty
Aviation Museum on Saturday,
Oct. 27. Afternoon and evening sessions are available, with a limited number of VIP tick- ets sold for each session. Enjoy more than four dozen types of wine, great food includ- ing Adams Reserve Cheddar Cheese, and ac- cess to the winemakers. Make reservations early – ticket prices increase after Oct. 12, and a limited number of VIP tickets will be sold. Lake Erie Shores and Islands and the Ohio Grape Industries Committee are also sponsoring the event.
Halloween Comes Early
In Sandusky
Witches will gather in down- town Sandusky for fun, contests,
door prizes, and a parade!
The Witches’ Walk is sched- uled for Wednesday, Oct. 24, with check-in at the Sandusky State Theatre for maps and wristbands. Last year more than 300 witches gathered for the event, and they were welcomed by downtown busi-
nesses.
The event is sponsored by
