Lake-View Living Offers A New Local Living Option
By JD Noll, Feature Writer
When Todd and Amy Burns decided to open Lake-View Living in the former Our
Guest Inn and Suites
in Port Clinton, they
wanted to provide
a friendly, care free
and inviting social
environment for
independent res-
idents and guests.
“We saw a need for
something like this and we
wanted it to be in a homelike
setting,” Todd says. The locally
owned and operated complex
opened their doors in May in
a convenient location, at the intersection of Sand Road and Route 163.
Having personal experience with his elder parents and always worrying about their well being and safety, Todd wanted to create a “safe, home-like setting for independent adults.” There are no restrictions and residents have the option of having prepared meals. There is an exercise room and medicine reminders from the friendly staff who are from the area.
Residents can lease a 300 sq. ft. suite by the month or longer. Manager Rita Fields emphasiz- es, “Come for a week, stay for a lifetime.” “Rita knows what it takes to help families. She’s the face that puts two and two together,” Todd states.
A variety of people call Lake-View Living home when they are in the area visiting or on a temporary assignment for their work.
Situated near Lake Erie, there are 24 private rooms, an outdoor pool, and weekly laundry and housekeeping services. Socialization is provided with a number of activities. A trolley is available to take residents to appointments, on excursions and shopping, but residents may keep their own vehicles. The three story building has an elevator and the apartments are equipped with a kitch- enette. The suites are furnished with convenient step in showers for safety.
Another interesting com- ponent to their offering is respite for families with overflowing out of town company who need quiet time and relaxation. Based on availability, one or more rooms can
bebooked. Currently, the
Burns’ are dedicating a floor and reserving a block of rooms for interesting win- ery and shopping excursions through the end of October. The two day guided tour in- cludes breakfasts and dinners, tastings, lodg- ing and trolley transportation. It takes guests to Sandusky and Vermilion for shopping and sam- plings at Firelands Winery and then either Paper Moon or Quarry Hill Wineries. On the return trip, a stop in downtown Marblehead will have visitors enjoying wine flights at Rocky Point Win- ery. The second day’s outing is spent ferrying to Put-in-Bay for shopping and wine tasting at the Heineman Winery and stepping beneath the building to view the world’s largest geode. The final stop is Put-in-Bay Winery in the historic Doller House overlooking beautiful Put-in-Bay harbor. Enjoy a great outing along the lake front
and leave the driving to the folks at Lake-View! Tours are available Monday – Wednesday,
and Wednesday – Friday. Contact Lake-View for detailed infor-
mation. Lake-View
