End Of Summer Fun At Put-in-Bay
The Lake Erie islands are the place to be for the next few weeks of summer!
Put-in-Bay hosts a wide variety of events, starting with the annual Put-in-Bay Barber- shop Quartet Show on Aug. 13. Bash on the Bay, featuring Blake Shelton and Keith Ur- ban, is Aug. 25 and 26.
The 208th anniversary of the Battle of Lake Erie will be observed on Sept. 10. The Jet Express will travel from Port Clinton to Put-in-Bay, then from the island to the site of the battle. The commemoration will include a wreath-laying ceremony. Put-in-Bay’s Arts in the Park event is the following day, Sept. 11.
Sept. 18 is a day to work multi-tasking into your entertainment – it’s the date of the island’s celebration of halfway to St. Patrick’s Day, as well as New Year’s Eve and the Put- in-Bay Music Festival. Finally, the annual Put-in-Bay Road Races are scheduled for Sept. 23 and 24.
Kelleys Island
On Kelleys Island, the annual Home- coming celebration is Aug. 13 and 14. The Island Singers Concert is Sept. 4, and the Glacial Glimpses event is Sept. 5. Kelleys’ Treasure Island Day is Sept. 11. Sept 18 will be a fun day to visit, so you can enjoy the Wine, Art, & Food Fair plus the Feathers & Foliage Festival.

Don’t forget the Big Splash Raffle Aug. 20 and 21 at the Sandusky Bay Pavilion. Pro- ceeds benefit the Sandusky Maritime Muse- um. Prizes include a Jeep Renegade, a Har- ley-Davidson Street Glide, a Ford Mustang convertible, and plenty of cash (by “plenty” I mean one of the prizes is $50,000).

Please support the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council for the Toasting Transfor- mation fundraiser on Aug. 21 at The Arts Garage. Really, please support it. I’m one of the organizers. Visit https://TRANSFOR- MATION.givesmart.com to purchase tickets and register for the online auction of pieces donated by local artists. You can also pur- chase tickets at Lilly & Gert’s in Port Clinton. If you can come to the in-person event you will also be able to see the exhibit of 50 pho- tographs from the Vietnam War by Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Eddie Adams. That exhibit will be on display through Nov. 14.
