Park, the beach and wetlands, Water Works Park and the lighthouse, the Portage River inlet, and Friendship Park. The Marblehead tour includes Rocky Point Winery, Clemons Park, Holy Assumption Orthodox Church and Cemetery, the Kelleys Island Ferry, La- farge Quarry, the Coast Guard station, and the Jamestown Tavern.
In my most recent column, I wrote about the Main Street Vermilion Postcard Project. Each Thursday through the end of August, a new mural and its location will be revealed on the group’s Facebook and Instagram pag- es. They really are cool – each one is mod- eled after a vintage local postcard. Visit the Main Street Vermilion webpage for the lo- cations of the already-unveiled murals. This would be the perfect opportunity for a driv- ing or walking tour!
Also on the topic of driving tours, the Ottawa County Barn Quilt Trail added three more works in July. Check the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council website for the addresses of the quilt locations. The arts council has a save-the-date request for the
Oct. 2 fundraiser art party.
The Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge has Wildlife Drives scheduled Aug. 15-16, 22-23, and 29-30. Follow the seven-mile route, which departs from the visitor cen- ter entrance road. Gates open at sunrise and close an hour before sunset. Check the ONWR social media pages or call if the weather has been wet.
Mulberry Creek Herb Farm isn’t hold- ing special events this year, and hours are by chance or appointment until September. However, the owners are doing something new – not only inviting visitors to enjoy the farm as a picnic location, but also welcom- ing the visitors’ dogs as well! Dogs are wel- comed at other local areas, too. Put-in-Bay now has Island Paws Dog Park on Airline Drive near the island airport. The Bark Un- til Dark Dog Park is on South Bridge Road in Marblehead. The MetroPark Dog Park is at Osborn MetroPark in Sandusky. Different rules apply to different parks, so check be- fore you and your furry friend plan an ad- venture.
The Port Clinton Musical Arts Series is holding two concerts in a new location: the Steele Memorial Bandstand in Lakeside. Steve and Lisa Ball perform at 7 pm Friday, Aug. 28, and the Canal Street String Band will perform at 3 pm Sunday, Sept. 13. The firstisAppalachianrootsmusic,andthesec- ond is folk music. Both seem perfect for an
outside concert!
The Walk To End Alzheimer’s is Sept. 20 “in” Sandusky. It’s not actually in Sandusky. There will be no large gathering. Instead, participants can register, raise money, and walk on their own or with a small group. I wish I lived in a world without Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. I wish we all
did!
Every attempt is made to provide accurate information, however, we encourage you to double check the details of these events!
