popular eatery - Goat, Soup and Whiskey. While Goat, Soup and Whiskey has been an established island restaurant since 2006, their biergarten addition came along years later. A vacant BBQ pit on the restaurant property deemed itself to be a superb spot for a bi- ergarten, but Caroline and Scott’s search for the per- fect beer to be the house brand took a great deal of time and effort. Scott ex- plains how an unexpected encounter during a road trip presented them with the ideal brew. “In 2016, while traveling to Put-in-
Bay from our other Goat, Soup and Whiskey restau- rant in Colorado, Caroline saw a billboard just west of South Bend, Indiana ad- vertising Moser’s Austrian Café. It also had the logo of Stiegl Bier, our favorite brand of beer from the old- est family-owned brewery in Austria. We stopped at Moser’s for a schnitzel and a Stiegl, and learned from the Austrian owner how he was able to have Stiegl Bier on draft. Our biergarten was born!”
Both Caroline and Scott have spent time in Austria and Germany and
there are still myriad op- portunities to enjoy the warm, sunny days that will favor us through autumn.
