Try M.O.M. For Dinner Continued from Page 1
lake breezes. In early May, Ni- cole Kochensparger, Director of Main Street Port Clinton, presented this concept to the City and downtown business owners in hopes of encouraging folks to begin to dine out again in a safe and responsible way. After careful thought and pos- itive discussions, the decision was made to move forward with the plan, named Meals on Madison (M.O.M.). “We chose the acronym M.O.M. because we want people to think of this experience as if they are at their mom’s kitchen table, and act accordingly,” explains Nicole.
At the forefront of M.O.M. is the goal of helping downtown restaurants and shops recover from months of COVID-19 re- strictions. “I am so thankful that Main Street Port Clinton and the City are really stepping up for us,” offers restaurateur Aimee Slater-West. “This not only benefits downtown busi- nesses but it’s great for all who
don’t have patio dining. Anyone can bring carry-out from anywhere and eat downtown.” She stresses that social distancing and sanitation are of utmost importance. “As excited as we all are to see each other, there are rules.”
Input from the Ottawa County Health Depart- ment, Port Clinton Fire Department, Port Clinton Police Department as well as from Port Clinton city of- ficials went into establish- ing firm, socially responsi- ble guidelines for Meals on Madison, which include:
-Tables are placed 15- 20 feet apart
-Enjoy a meal with your family or established “herd” only—do not congre- gate, or visit other tables
-Social distancing is re- quired at all times
-Sanitize using the dis- infectants provided
-Diners must pack up
Check the Main Street Port Clinton Facebook page for current updates.
When you feel that the time is right for stepping

-Do not attend if you or anyone with you does not feel well
An added plus to Meals on Madison is the reinstatement of the Main Street Out- door Refreshment Area (M.O.R.A.) by Port Clin- ton Police Chief Rob Hickman. Folks who are fond of an ice-cold beer, a glass of wine or other adult beverages are en- couraged to add them to their carry-out order and enjoy responsibly in the blocked-off area of
Madison. Beverages are served in a M.O.R.A. ap- proved cup.
The hours of operation
of Meals on Madison are
12-8pm Sunday through
Thursday, and 12-9pm
Friday and Saturday. Ni-
cole emphasizes that there
is abundant parking on
North Madison Street,
South Madison Street, the
Key Bank parking lot and
behind the Hershberger
Building. “We are hop-
ing that M.O.M. will be a
great added benefit to our
downtown, encouraging
shopping safely as well as
dining out,” she adds. Continued on page 4
