tip of Catawba, just a few miles east of Port Clinton, Ohio. Take Route 53N to the tip of Catawba, hop on the Miller Ferry and in just 18 minutes you will find yourself at Put- in-Bay with a ton of fun things to do.
Here is another plan. You might want to get some of your friends together and go to Put-in-Bay as a group. The folks at Miller Boat Line can help you make your plans as a group, just go to millerferry.com to get things started. Groups of twenty or more can make group reservations.
“There is a robust amount of information for all groups at MillerFerry.com.” Cheryll Rose, groups coordinator for Miller Boat Line, recently said. She pointed out that group information is broken down into a student group page along with pages for meeting planners, tour groups, and weddings.
“We bring a lot of students to the island during spring and fall,” Rose stated. Perry’s Monument is a big attrac- tion for students. The Memorial, a Doric column, rising 352 feet over Lake Erie celebrates the long-lasting peace among Great Britain, Canada and the U.S. She also point- ed out that Perry’s Cave, the Butterfly House, Heineman’s Crystal Cave, as well as the Ohio State University’s Stone Lab at Gibraltar are excellent educational resources for students.
“On Gibraltar Island, the student groups come for the day and they take trips on the island’s research boat,” Rose stated. “The students will learn how the OSU re- searchers measure different items like the general health

ding groups since the ODNR has redone the State Park and Historic Lonz Winery property to include a breath- taking observation deck and new pavilion. Middle Bass is North of Put-in-Bay and can be reached by the Miller Ferry.
MillerFerry.com has a lot of information on holding a successful island wedding. In addition, the boat line offers discount rates for your wedding guests and Cheryll can provide discount cards to include in your invitations.
“There is something for everyone to do in Put-in-Bay,” Rose said. “Nearly every area of interest is covered from education, to religion, to historic, to adventure tours, can be done by coming to Put-in-Bay.”

of the lake, algae, invasive species, and how fish samples are taken.”
During the day, the students also ride the Island Tour Train to learn all the history of South Bass Island and it’s attractions. After a long day on the island, the students hop back on the Miller Ferry and head home.
Every year on the island, there is also the Put-in-Bay Road Races reunion. The racers spend three days on the island. The first day is a car show and then the cars run the old, historical race track at Put-in-Bay’s airport.
The Northern Ohio Region Porsche Club of America event in Put-in-Bay is another annual car group. The Porsches combine with other antique cars for a Sunday parade and this year will be joined with the Put-in-Bay Jeep Invasion that takes place July 27-29.
Weddings are becoming increasing popular on the Lake Erie Islands. In addition to Put-in-Bay for wedding sites, Middle Bass Island is growing in popularity for wed-
