Catawba Island Historical Society Museum
I recently attended
the season opening
of the Catawba Is-
land Historical Soci-
ety Museum, and I
was impressed. The
former Union Chap-
el was bright and
airy, and the exhibits
were interesting and
well-designed. We are
lucky enough to have
plenty of wonderful
choices when it comes
to exploring local history, including the Keeper’s House, the Ottawa County Historical Museum, the Port Clinton Light- house Conservancy, the Thomas Edison Birthplace Museum, the Milan Historical Museum, the Firelands Historical Soci- ety Museum, and others.
A working aviation museum featuring
our award winning WWII B-25 Mitchell
Bomber “Georgie’s Gal”, the active resto-
ration of a vintage Island Airlines Ford Tri-Motor, along with other historical aircraft, vehicles and artifacts.
Fundraiser For Maritime Museum Of Sandusky
If you would like to support a local museum – or just have a chance to win big – the Big Splash Early Bird Drawing is scheduled for Indepen- dence Day at Washington Park in Sandusky. The fundraiser benefits the Maritime Museum of Sandusky. Early bird tickets must be returned to the museum by 1p.m. that day to be eligible for the drawing at 3 p.m. Twenty tickets will be drawn for $500 a piece!
