Experience A Shopping Adventure
In Picturesque Vermilion By JD Noll, Feature Writer
The picturesque, lake- front community of Ver- milion is brimming with unique shops and restau- rants in an easily walkable downtown.
On your visit your first stop should be the offices of Main Street Vermilion located on Main Street (Rt. 60) in a small building nestled by the downtown railroad tracks, where you can gather brochures and get friendly advice about the community. The Main Street office is part artisan gallery, but mostly infor-
mation central for this quaint town on the shore. In early summer, Shore Thing opens on the Main Street beach for grab and go snacks, ice cream novelties, small gifts and souvenirs and helpful in- formation. It even has an accessible wheelchair with large tires for those in need who want to wig- gle their toes in Lake Erie.
The renovated Swan Creek Candle Vermilion is not to be missed. New owners, Nick and Che-
li Palito have immersed themselves in the commu- nity and boutique candle operation. Beautifully decorated by Cheli, it’s the perfect place for fragrant candles and soaps. Spe- cializing in soy candles, “Swan Creek Candle Com- pany has been clean and green for several decades,” Nick emphasizes.
Across the street, satisfy your sweet tooth at Brum- mer’s, where delicious chocolatey scents greet you at the door. A huge se- lection of homemade choc- olates, fudge and salt wa- ter taffy is available along with Polish pottery, gifts and kitchen accessories. Bob and Sandy Brummer have been in Vermilion for 27 years. “My grandfa- ther started the business in New Jersey in 1904,” Brummer says.
If you are in need of warm and snuggly cloth- ing for all ages, stop in to Cheryl’s Fashion Boutique a headquarters for many fine pieces of alpaca cloth- ing. Fashions by Joseph Ribkoff are featured. A popular piece this season
Fill your need for shopping therapy in the many unique shops in Vermilion.
